Fr. John T. Hentzner

Father John T. Hentzner born to Eternal Life May 7, 2018, age 97 years. Preceded in death by his parents Theodore Hentzner and Mary Ann Kuntner Hentzner, sisters Margaret (the late John) Stolt and Mildred (the late Harland) Blackburn, and his brother Harry J. Hentzner. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Born on August 21, 1920 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Father Hentzner completed his priestly formation at St. Francis de Sales Seminary from 1934-1945. He attended Catholic University in Washington, D.C. where completed his graduate studies in 1951.

He was ordained on September 29, 1945 by the Most Reverend Moses E. Kiley at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee. Father's priestly ministry began in October 1945 as an Assistant at St. Boniface Parish in Milwaukee. He was appointed as a Notary in the Tribunal and a Professor at St. Francis Minor Seminary from 1950-1972. Father was Pastor at St. John in Rubicon from 1972-1986. In 1986 he was appointed as an Associate Pastor at St. Bernard in Wauwatosa. He retired in June 1995.

A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Father Hentzner will be celebrated at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at St. Bernard Parish in Wauwatosa (7474 Harwood Avenue). Priest friends and former colleagues are invited to concelebrate; please bring an alb and white stole. Visitation will also take place on May 12 at St. Bernard, beginning at 12 Noon and continuing until time for the funeral liturgy. Private burial Holy Cross Cemetery.
