Reverend George Ray Fleischmann

With hope in the resurrection, we commend to the Lord Reverend George R. Fleischmann, who died on Monday, May 28, 2018, at the age of 94. He is survived by his sister Mary Jo Hess, sister-in-law Anne. Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Ruth, brother John "Jack" and brother-in-law Richard Hess. Also survived by nieces nephews other relatives and friends.

Born on August 22, 1924, at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Father Fleischmann began his priestly formation in 1952 at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, seven years after graduating from Marquette University with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. In the fall of 1954, he relocated to Washington, DC to continue studies for the priesthood at Catholic University of America's Theological College; he completed his formation in 1956. Father Fleischmann was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Albert G. Meyer on May 26, 1956 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee.

On June 26, 1956, Father Fleischmann was appointed an assistant at St. Boniface Parish in Milwaukee. He continued to serve as an assistant at three additional parishes: Holy Trinity, Racine (appointed September 4, 1957), Sacred Heart Parish, Racine (appointed December 10, 1957); and St. Leo Parish, Milwaukee (appointed July 7, 1960) Father was appointed to the faculty at De Sales Preparatory Seminary on July 1, 1963, teaching at the school until his appointment on June 12, 1973, as associate pastor at St. Albert Parish, Milwaukee. He was appointed to his first pastorate on February 5 1974, serving St. Cecilia Parish in Thiensville. On January 20, 1981, Father was appointed the pastor at St. Anthony Parish, Menomonee Falls. His last assignment before retiring from active ministry on June 21, 1994, was serving for nine years as pastor at Holy Trinity Parish, Newburg, which included the Station of St. Augustine in Trenton (appointed June 18, 1985).

A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Father Fleischmann will be celebrated at 2:00pm on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at St. Anthony Parish, Menomonee Falls (N74 W13604 Appleton Avenue, Menomonee Falls, WI 53051). Visitation will also take place at St. Anthony on June 6, beginning at noon and continuing until time for the funeral Mass.
