I've been aware of the website for quite some time now and actually visited it just a few days ago. It was especially troubling to hear of Ted's passing and I'm very appreciative of the efforts you have put into this site, particularly the inclusion of our faculty members who have also passed on. I guess I've been out of the loop for so long that it's a bit difficult to face the fact that I've lost touch with so many of you who once meant so much to me. I have nothing but fond memories and will attempt to rekindle those friendships. Your website leaves me with no excuse for not putting forth the effort. So thank you again for contacting me. I should have contacted you without your prompting. Thanks again for all your fine work and let me know how I can be of any help." (November 2008)

Roger Lindmark
Roger Lindmark - I am from the class of 1970. I then went to one year at St. Francis college then transfered to St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn. I majored in Psychology and Theology and graduated in 1974. I then went to New York University and Long Island University in NYC and got a Masters degree in Clinical Psych in 1977. I was planning on staying at NYU in Greenwich Village, NYC for a Ph.D. but decided to go to law school. I then came to Los Angeles to go to law school at Pepperdine Univ in Malibu, Calif graduating in 1983. I am now a trial and appellate lawyer in Los Angeles with my own firm. When I was in Malibu my mother (our parish of St. Agnes in Butler, Wisc.)wrote to me and sent me a Milwaukee Journal news article and told me De Sales was closing -- honestly I cried when I read her letter and the news paper. I loved our high school and I learned so much there. To this day I swear that I could never have gotten through all my higher education without the discipline of 3 hours of mandatory night study hall and all the other discipline I developed as a resident student there. I still read Latin and French. I have taken Latin refresher courses here in Los Angeles. I have all my high school and college Latin books and some others. I have forgotten all my Greek from Fr. Dan York who taught me in Senior year and in my freshman college year. Our faculty was dedicated and always available to counsel and tutor every boy. I kept in touch with Fr. Ed Wieland over the years and I flew to Milwaukee for his funeral in March 2007. He told me a few years before he died that De Sales was the only private high school in Wisconsin to have an indoor swimming pool -- that is how privileged we were!!! And remember the indoor hand ball courts which I also enjoyed as did the boys and faculty in the winter. And who can forget the basement hallway which you could run around for exercise in the winter. And how about the archery range which Fr. Russell Becker set up in the basement -- remember that?? What a great school we went to. When I was a freshman I leaned how to type -- remember the library typing rooms -- and because of all the papers we had to write senior year for Fr. Erwin Matt, and other classes I became an expert typist. I had my own term paper typing business on campus at St. John's Univ typing term papers for $2.00 per page for weekly spending money. I still have my portable electric Smith Corona typewriter which I bought at the Major Seminary bookstore in my Junior year at De Sales in 1968. IF any of you have an interest in learning more about the history of St. Francis seminary and its founding from 1856 to 1956 go to Amazon.com and look up the book "Halcyon Days" by Fr. Peter Leo Johnson who as the seminary history professor in the 1950's and wrote that book to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the seminary. I have an online review of the book at Amazon on the book's web page. You can buy a used book for about $10 to $15. I have read it a number of times and love the old stories from the 1800's. My De Sales class of 1970 is having an all class reunion this July 23 to 26th, 2010 with many events planned with a kickoff Friday night the 23rd at an authentic Catholic parish fish fry somewhere in Milwaukee or at the Serb Hall on the South Side. Classmates Tom Wieland and Mike Fleissner are heading the planning committee -- you can contact them at their offices -- Fleissner is an attorney and Wieland is a CPA accountant -- they can be found in the phone book. Hope you all come to the reunion this summer. Thanks Major Alan for your work on the web site and sharing the history of joy of being an alumnus of St. Francis De Sales Prep Seminary. As Fr. Vince Silvestri once told us "Quod est in scripto, est in mundo." (what is in writing, is in the world.) PAX VOBISCUM.....Atty. Roger Lindmark -- you can write to me at -- roglindmark@juno.com -- so that if you are ever in Los Angeles call me and I will show you the city and we can share memories of De Sales Seminary.....I will bring my 4 VIA year books to entertain you at lunch or dinner!!!!

Our Faculty and Mentors
Reverend Richard J. Cerpich Reverend Richard John Cerpich - Retired August 2005; Still lives in area of Random Lake, Wisconsin. Reports online indicate that he still active as of October 2008. The good reverend would be 73 this year. Here's an interesting, "Stab From The Past". (November 2008)
Reverend Erwin Matt
Reverend Erwin Henry Matt - Retired and presently living on the grounds of the former St. Mary's Academy in St. Francis, Wisconsin. Celebrated 50th Anniversary of Ordination in 2006. Father Matt is now into his early 90s and writes, "As I plunge more deeply into my 90's, I grow more and more feeble. To hold a pen is almost beyond me. But I am content and full of joy. God love you." (December 2019)

Paul M. Plevak

Reverend Paul M. Plevak - Paul Plevak is living in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, with his wife, Margaret, (nee Michalski). She is a writer for an online site covering Walworth County events, and she also writes for the Milwaukee Catholic Herald! His wife was kind enough to forward my email to him and he responded with the following details: "I left that parish and the priesthood in 1984. At that point I began a 25-year career at Nestle Foods in Burlington WI in Quality Assurance. I retired last July (2009) and am enjoying my time away from the daily grind. I had no idea no one knew where I was. A few highlights: in July of 2000 I accompanied my wife and a contingent of the archdiocese on a trip to Bolivia (17 days and flying on every conceiveable airline Bolivia had to offer!) where we met with the indigenous people who despite earning an average of 50 cents per day, opened their hearts and resources to us." (March 2010)

Reverend Robert Skeris
Reverend Robert Alexander Skeris - "Dr." Skeris has his own WIKI here. (August 2014)

Robert Sullivan
Former Reverend Robert Emmet Sullivan - Another of Roger Lindmark's contacts, Father Bob Massey, reports that while he was working at Margaret Mary Parish in Milwaukee, he met a man who introduced himself as Robert Sullivan. Accompanied by his teenage daughter, Robert said that he had been a public grade school principal and administrator prior to retiring. He then had been the principal at Margaret Mary Parish grade school before again retiring. This encounter occurred in the early 90s. (December 2008)

Linda Kay Long Linda Kay Long - Linda was kind enough to provide an update. She is alive and well living in Arlington, Texas; and for the past ten years, she has been in charge of the credit recovery/dropout prevention program at Molina High School in Dallas. She lives not far from the Ranger's ballpark and the Dallas Cowboy's magnificent new stadium. Her mother also lives in the area as does her son Scott. I was able to find Linda through her son's MySpace site, where he had listed his mom and his grandfather, Achille Demetz as his heroes. Scott and Mom (April 2010)
